| Cossington Concerts depends on the enthusiasm and support of its audiences. From the very beginning, we have sought to make high-level classical music accessible and enjoyable. The members of the Cossington Concert Circle and Wider Circle make up our most loyal audience, in part because of the opportunities to become familiar with the artists and the concert repertoire that Circle meetings provide. Other forms of nourishment are also a feature of Cossington Concert events, especially of Musicales, where a top local chef is invited to provide a meal as part of a musical evening. |

MusicalesIn 2007 the Trust offered two Musicales, intended as evenings of music and fine dining. The first, featuring a recital by the baroque cellist Tatty Theo and harpsichordist Carolyn Gibley, took place in March at Shapwick House. The second, a recital by two Russian musicians from the Hermitage Percussion Ensemble followed by a dinner prepared by chef Mike McKenzie of Table 8 in nearby Wedmore, took place in June in the Manor Gardens. In 2008 a third Musicale featuring The Absolution Saxophone Quartet, from the Royal Northern College of Music, and a gourmet char-grilled supper prepared by Mike McKenzie took place on Sunday 20 July in the garden of Tower House, Chilton Polden. |

Manor Music Room RecitalsIn 2008 Cossington Concerts launched a new series of Manor Music Room Recitals as a way to promote emerging young artists with local connections. The first, a song recital entitled ‘Romantic Journey’, given by the soprano Elizabeth Parsons and the pianist Florian Markel, took place on Sunday afternoon, 3 August and was followed by a tea party. In 2009, the young violinist Tansy Bennett (a Fund for Young Musicians recipient) and pianist Kodo Osada, both of Wells Cathedral School, gave a short recital at the October Circle meeting. |

Opera TripsMost years the Trust has organised a coach trip to Bristol or Cardiff to enable local people to attend an opera performance given by Welsh National Opera. |
