The Cossington Concert Circle
To help develop a dedicated audience for the new series, the Trust established the Cossington Concert Circle, whose remit is strongly educational as well as social.
The Circle meets on the Friday evenings preceding the concerts for a glass of wine and an illustrated talk, usually with music. These evenings at the Manor give people a chance to hear about music in a friendly, informal atmosphere, and they generally have a chance to meet and talk to the artists playing or singing at the concerts.
Until his death in 2005, Stanley Sadie, an experienced broadcaster, gave most of the talks, although the performers have always taken a lively part. Happily, this tradition continues, with invariably entertaining talks from invited experts.
At the October 2009 Circle meeting, members were treated to a recital by the talented 17-year-old Wells Cathedral School violinist, Tansy Bennett, who is also a recipient of an award from Cossington Concerts’ Fund for Young Musicians.
Circle members receive three newsletters per year and priority booking for all Cossington Concert events.

The Wider Circle
In 2007 the Cossington Concert Trust launched the Wider Cossington Circle in response to the growing number of friends of the series living outside the Bridgwater area who attend at least one event a year.
Wider Circle members are welcome to attend the Friday evening Circle meetings whenever they can and also receive the newsletters.
