Intimate Concert VenuesFor the first five seasons (2002-2006), Cossington Concerts were held either in St Mary the Virgin, Cossington, or in the Manor and its grounds. Both the church and the Manor have limited seating (125 and 45 respectively). This is reflected in the programming: classical chamber music has generally been the order of the day. In 2007, recognising the potential to appeal to a wider audience, the Trust began holding events in other, larger venues in the Polden Hills. Both Acoustic Triangle at St Mary’s, Woolavington in 2007 and the Chilingirian Quartet at St Michael & All Angels, Bawdrip in 2008 sold out. Last season, in addition to our local parish church, we took Cossington Concerts to St Mary’s Church in Bridgwater. To accommodate still larger audiences and attract young people to our events we have since 2009 taken concerts with masterclasses to local area schools: Millfield in Street and Queen’s College in Taunton. In 2011 the new, state-of-the art Cossington Village Hall opened, providing Cossington Concerts with a new 200-seat home www.cossingtonvillagehall.org.uk. Following the inaugural concert in November, many of our 2012 events will take place here. Cossington Manor and other private homes in the Polden Hills villages have hosted concerts associated with fine dining. Cossington Concerts welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with its neighbours and other South West arts and educational organisations.
