Annual Series and FestivalsIt was the founders’ intention that Cossington Concerts offer a season spread throughout the year. From four events in the first season to nine in 2007, the trustees have experimented with the formula and aim to continue to offer a variety of high-calibre musical experiences. The norm, however, has been five series events per year interspersed with occasional Manor Music Room Recitals. In 2006 the Trust, in collaboration with the Classical Opera Company (London) mounted a three-day festival, Mozart at the Manor (8-10 September), honouring the memory of its founder, Stanley Sadie. In 2009 we invited Devon Baroque to present a Handel Festival to mark the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death. In September 2012 Cossington Concerts will present a three-day A Somerset Schubertiad with Julius Drake and Friends. In 2006 we presented our first open-air Shakespeare play with picnicking in the Manor Gardens. In 2007 we added the Musicale (dinner and a concert) to our portfolio and in 2008 an occasional series of Manor Music Room Recitals featuring emerging young artists with local connections.
