Cossington Concerts
The Somerset series with a big agenda

Annual Series and Festivals

It was the founders’ intention that Cossington Concerts offer a season spread throughout the year. From four events in the first season to nine in 2007, the trustees have experimented with the formula and aim to continue to offer a variety of high-calibre musical experiences. The norm, however, has been five series events per year.

In 2006 the Trust, in collaboration with the Classical Opera Company (London) mounted a three-day festival, Mozart at the Manor (8-10 September), honouring the memory of its founder, Stanley Sadie. In 2009 we collaborated with Devon Baroque on a similar event (24-26 July) to mark the 250th anniversary of the death of Handel.

In 2006 we presented our first open-air Shakespeare play with picnicking in the Manor Gardens. In 2007 we added the Musicale (dinner and a concert) to our portfolio and in 2008 an occasional series of Manor Music Room Recitals featuring emerging young artists with local connections.
